The wastewater treatment authority for Alexandria and parts of Fairfax County, processes approximately 13 billion gallons of wastewater it receives from area homes, schools, and businesses, before safely returning it to local waterways. Water Resource Recovery Facility is designed to treat an average daily flow of 54 million gallons per day and is among the most advanced in the world.
