Jackson County, IL — Perdomo of NY, a division of Perdomo Worldwide specializing in complex demolition and environmental remediation, in partnership with Espinosa Investments, has been awarded a $28 million contract to perform the full decommissioning of the Grand Tower Energy Center, a 649-megawatt gas-fired power plant located in Jackson County, Illinois.

The project scope includes the complete demolition of the retired power facility, along with comprehensive site remediation efforts. These will address the removal and proper disposal of Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR), industrial oils, and other environmentally sensitive materials in accordance with state and federal regulations.

“This project represents exactly the kind of complex, large-scale work our team at Perdomo of NY is built for,” said a spokesperson for the company. “We’re proud to bring our expertise to Grand Tower and play a key role in preparing the site for its next chapter of industrial development.”

The Grand Tower Energy Center site will be fully cleared and environmentally stabilized to support future redevelopment, including planned upgrades that will transform the location into a modern energy hub capable of supporting data centers, advanced manufacturing, and other power-intensive industries.

Perdomo of NY has extensive experience managing high-risk demolition and environmental projects across the country, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and precision execution at every stage. The Grand Tower project is expected to be completed on schedule, with all remediation work carefully monitored to protect the surrounding environment and local communities.
