Perdomo of NY to Lead Demolition and Site Redevelopment Following Acquisition of Historic Salem Glassworks Property
March 3, 2026
Salem, NJ – Perdomo Worldwide has completed the acquisition of the historic Salem Glassworks property at 83 Griffith Street in Salem. As part of the redevelopment strategy, Perdomo of NY will lead demolition, remediation, and site preparation efforts to reposition the long-vacant industrial complex for future manufacturing and mixed-use development.
The more than 28-acre site includes over 500,000 square feet of warehouse and industrial space. The property was acquired earlier this month, with the transaction facilitated by Max Spann Real Estate and Auction Company.
The site, historically known as Salem Glass Works, served as a cornerstone of South Jersey’s industrial economy for more than 150 years. Originally operating from 1895 to 1934, the facility later housed Anchor Cap and Closure Corp., Anchor Hocking Glass, and Anchor Glass before ultimately being sold to Ardagh Group. The plant ceased operations in 2014 and has remained largely inactive in the years since.
Perdomo of NY will oversee a comprehensive demolition and environmental strategy designed to safely decommission obsolete structures while preserving viable infrastructure, including rail access and select industrial assets. The scope of work includes structural demolition, material recycling, site clearing, and preparation for future vertical development.
“This project reflects the critical role demolition and site redevelopment play in revitalizing legacy industrial properties,” said Orlando Perdomo. “Perdomo Worldwide’s acquisition allows us to unlock the potential of this historic site, and Perdomo of NY will execute the complex demolition and site work necessary to prepare it for its next chapter.”
The City of Salem’s Opportunity Zone designation provides additional incentives aimed at attracting investment and accelerating economic redevelopment in the area.
Through its involvement in the Salem Glassworks project, Perdomo of NY continues to expand its portfolio of large-scale industrial demolition and redevelopment initiatives, reinforcing its expertise in transforming dormant facilities into sites ready for renewed economic activity.
