The plant has the third-oldest water system in the United States; the only systems older than Winchester’s are Philadelphia and Allentown, PA. Water is pulled from the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, treated, and supplied to customers through a water distribution system of over 125 miles of pipeline, providing up to 10 million gallons of water per day.
